Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sheikhpura sponsored by Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi was established in 1996 at Ariari (Farpar) in the district Sheikhpura (Bihar). Bihar Agricultural University,Sabour Bhagalpur is its host institution. Krishi Vigyan Kendra is an innovative scheme sponsored by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi. Its purpose is to disseminate improved technologies in Agriculture and its allied field by organizing regular vocational training as on/off campus to the practicing farmers, Farm women and unemployed rural youths. Training imparted is entirely need based, skill oriented as well as production based. Local resources are invariably taken into consideration whenever training programme on any discipline is organized. As per mandate of Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi, the center is dedicated for providing technical support to the farmers of the district through conducting on farm trials for assessing, refining and documenting agricultural technologies, Front line demonstrations with improved technologies and by providing training facilities to farmers, rural youth and extension functionaries working in field of agriculture and allied sectors. The centre has the mandated activities of conducting on farm testing/trials (OFTs) with emerging advances in agricultural research for assessing, refining and demonstration of recently released technology to develop location specific sustainable production system and dedicated to organize vocational training in agriculture and allied fields for practicing farmers, farm women and rural youth.
